Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

It was a simple scene that first Christmas–rough room, a young couple, and nothing but a feeding trough to put the child in. It was probably quite cold and with family far away there was little help. Not exactly the Hallmark moment we like to show in Christmas pageants. And yet this rustic scene marked the greatest event in the history of mankind.

God’s Son became human and came to earth to save us. He could have easily burst on the scene as a full grown man, a seven foot warrior with fiery eyes and arms of steel. This was what many people were looking for, but it wasn’t how God did it. He arrived in the arms of a young girl. He was, as another of our authors put it “a very small package, wrapped in rags, given from the heart of god. The perfect gift.”

God gave His only Son to die in our place so that we, in all our brokenness, could know forgiveness. He came so that we could know what love feels like, real love - love that never leaves, love that never disappoints, love that is never betrayed. He sent His Son into a corrupted world to bring us hope.

Please pray for those of us who will be traveling to Puerto Rico. W e are hoping to bring joy and happiness to our friends in the Western Conference of Puerto Rico. If all goes well we will try this again in the future.

Director’s Meeting
There are a number of details concerning the next two years of Pathfindering particularly Camporees and Fairs that we need to clarify face to face so we are asking that as many directors as possible meet with us on Sabbath afternoon, January 21 at the Mansfield Church for this director’s council. A number of you will be in Mansfield for the Pathfinder Ski Weekend anyway.

Youth Emergency Services Corps Training

From David Greutman, Captain, SW Ohio Y.E.S. Corps

Even though the deadline on the applications has passed to get your name in for the training, I am still accepting applications. The deadline has been extended to January 15. It cannot be extended any further than that. We do not yet have enough people for the training for the Heimels to come up here. So please get your names in. You do not have to be involved in Y.E.S. Corps to recieve this training. It is great information to have on it’s own.

The training is geared for youth and young adults ages 15-25, be we are accepting anybody 14+, so anybody 14 and older is welcome.

If you or anybody you know is working for Master Guide, this fulfills the 10 hr staff training requirement for Master Guide. If you want more information, the website in the signature will have it for you, or you can e-mail me your questions and I will get back with you.

Remember, the cost is just $15 for the weekend. We will be at Camp Mohaven, March 24-26, 2006.

Thank you and please get the responses in ASAP.
